How the calculation works
- 1. Fix the moment. Your birth date and time are converted to the time zone that was in force at your birth city.
- 2. Locate the planets. Each body’s position along the ecliptic is calculated for that instant and translated into a zodiac sign and degree.
- 3. Raise the horizon. Your birth coordinates set the Ascendant and the cusps of the twelve houses.
- 4. Read the pattern. Signs, houses, and aspects are combined into an interpretation you can act on.

What do I need to calculate a natal chart?

What if I do not know my exact birth time?
You can still calculate most of your chart. Planetary signs stay accurate, but the Rising sign and house positions shift through the day, so treat those as provisional until you confirm your time — usually on a birth certificate or hospital record.
